Illustration Notes for Episode Forty-Five

This week—Piper loses her cool! …But only for a moment. This image attempts to catch the moment just after that loss, as her displeasure with “snot nosed little man” Matt is rapidly eclipsed by great disquiet at what she’s just done, and the potential consequences of her brief lapse of diplomacy. As always, I leave it up to you to decide how we did. :]

This scene is the third product of my new collaborative effort with friend and fellow illustrator, M. Scott Hammond, saving me LOTS of time to write the actual scenes, and providing Scott some much-needed work during this pandemic shutdown. If you did not see my initial ‘Illustration Notes’ post about this new approach to TWICE illustration, you can find that more complete explanation in the Illustration Notes for Episode Forty-Three.

As you might imagine, our new age of ‘social distancing’ has made getting together with my TWICE character models…inadvisable for the near future. Fortunately, I happened to stage a photo shoot with several of those models for illustrations several weeks into the future just before the new world order befell us. That got us through last week. This week, I needed a new shot of the young local model for Piper, and so, we tried something new. I called her family up, and told them what I needed. They took the shot—PERFECTLY—on an iPhone, and texted it to me ten minutes later—whereupon I emailed it straight to Scott in Utah so that he could start his drawing. How cool is that? I may just keep right on doing it this way even after the world opens again! Many, many thanks to all of my currently ‘remote’ character models and their families for their fabulous assistance and flexibility during these ‘interesting times!’

Stay safe and healthy, friends! And thanks for your continued interest in TWICE!

As always, the uncropped and uncluttered image awaits your perusal below.
