Illustration Notes for Episode Forty-One

If this image seems a lot like last week’s—that’s no accident.

I am attempting to depict a similarity here between Colleen’s situation, and that of Dusty and his adoptive parents. Both are suddenly left to feel ‘small and isolated,’ literally removed from their normal lives, involuntarily transported to some strange place, and left to peer out at a too-large world from behind windows not their own.

Even the image viewpoints of these two companion pieces are meant to suggest ‘surveillance’ from somewhere below and outside—as both parties are being ‘watched’ and plotted around in various ways by now as well. Hopefully, the ‘feeling’ of their separate but similar circumstances comes through.
